Kevin is one of the main characters in Freak the Mighty. The author, Rodman Philbrick, describes Freak as small because he is disabled with a disease called Morquino's Syndrome, and he is smart. In addition, Freak is bold and witty. In the novel, the author reveals that Freak is bold when he was talking, "Come along Maxwell," he says over his shoulders. "Ignore the cretin" (Philbrick pg.31). This shows that Kevin wasn't afraid to talk to anyone. Furthermore, the author shows that Freak is witty when Kevin comes to rescue Max with a squirt gun filled with curry powder, vinegar, and soap, and fools Max's dad by telling him it was acid. (Philbrick pg.133). This shows that Kevin was witty because he came as quick as he could to save Max, and trick his dad that the water gun had acid. Based on the character's dialogue in this story, you can clearly see that Kevin is bold and witty. |
