Kenny Kane is one of the main characters in Freak the Mighty. The author, Rodman Philbrick, describes Kenny Kane as very tall, big, and threatening who is the antagonist in the story. In addition, Kenny Kane is deceiving and dangerous. In the novel, the author reveal that Kenny Kane is deceiving when he states, "' That's good, boy. Now listen up. I, Kenneth David Kane, do swear by all that's Holy that I did not murder this boy's mother. And if that isn't the truth, may God strike me dead...' My father sighs and says, 'Lord, I wish you hadn't done that, boy. It cost me years'" (Philbrick 113). This shows that Kenny Kane is deceiving because he made Max think that he did not kill his mother; however, later in the story, Max would find out that his own father lied to him about killing his mother. Furthermore, the author shows that Kenny Kane is dangerous when the author states, "That's when his hands start to tighten hard and fast around my neck. I'm trying to fight him but I'm so small and weak and he's so big and strong, you can't stop Killer Kane" (Philbrick 130). This shows that Kenny Kane is dangerous because as it shows in the evidence, he was ready to even kill his own son over the mistake he made years ago. Also, this shows how Kenny Kane holds grudges on people for years showing how Kenny Kane is dangerous. Based on the character's behavior and actions in this novel, you can clearly see that Kenny Kane is deceiving and dangerous.
